First a tale of Skippy and Beans

We needed a little mascot for Beans. By chance, we got our hands on a Preiser kangaroo. Of course he didn't look like that. So, the little guy was equipped with a backpack and the Aussi flag by Andy. Now he was equipped as a globetrotter and ready for the journey into the model railroad world.

All pictures were taken at our first driving weekend carnival 2010 in Bernd's living room.

As already reported, the Modelleisenbahnfreunde Luna/SG and surroundings (we will report about this later), represented by the board of directors, wanted to finance Skippy`s trip to the Midwest. The costs were to be settled via certain accounts which are usual in Switzerland.

Unfortunately, the people responsible for these transactions had to leave Switzerland suddenly but not unexpectedly after a data CD turned up. However, they found a comfortable shelter in a branch of their money laundering facility on theCayman Islands in the Caribbean. However, the problem could be solved internally in Switzerland quite looooong but persistently, right?, in the sense of the tax revenues from these "certain" accounts, which are important for Switzerland, for the benefit of the persons concerned! They are tanned and with new Rolex back.

Thus Skippy could be carried out of his beloved beer garden and brought into his transport box. By means of heavy trucks of the Erkrath-based company Krichmichdoch Kräne etc. etc. Skippy was brought to the Zurich airport and flown in an Antonov 225 (of course, none of you narrow-gauge railroaders knows this...WIKIPEDIA helps here too!) to Des Moines/IOWA (Wikipedia helps here too).

At the airport he was joyfully welcomed by the board of the Model Railroad Society of Des Moines. After a hearty barbecue with good Budweiser, they drove into the pampas (flat as a bowl - corn, wheat and cattle pastures as far as the eye can see!) to visit a new Union-Pacific line still under construction in Dacota City with a large rail yard and industrial area as well as the new Lotzburgh station and town center. The track facilities were put into operation on this day by the operator Union Pacific Railroad. After the narrowness of Switzerland, Skippy was excited about the size and vastness of the facilities. It reminded him somewhat of his homeland. Only the beer was sh....! No Forsters!

Skippy will visit some more railroad clubs in IOWA in the next few days. After that he will travel to his secret home Erkrath to visit a Rheinbahn? streetcar depot! If only this stale manure (Altbier) would not be!
