Dakota Yard locomotive shed

Andy builds the large locomotive shed for the Dakota yard from 2 Cornerstone kits set against each other. At least 3 large US diesels fit in the shed, on 3 elevated tracks above the inspection pits. On the outer edges of the pits and in the center, working platforms are created. Of course everything is painted in color. Here Andy brings in the supports on which later the tracks will lie. About eighty supports per shed section! Of course, the lacquer he applied must be removed beforehand from under each support so that the supports can be glued.

The substructure of the locomotive shed is embedded in the module box. The interior is finished except for decoration parts. Around the two sheds, the "concrete floors" were cut out of plastic plate strips. These still have to be engraved, painted and aged. The tracks in front of the shed and the track immediately next to the shed will then accommodate the refueling and sanding equipment. The sand bunker will also find its place in front of the shed.

At Andy's place the roofs of the shed are made. Since they do not fit properly, Andy glued in a plastic strip.

The shed is made removable. Brass rods were glued to the side walls and inserted through matching holes in the bottom of the shed and the base plate. The brass rods are screwed on from below by brass wing screws with washers. Cables are soldered to some of the washers to provide power to the shed. The power supply in the shed is then via soldered cables to the rods.

The shed in its place. An overhead crane will be installed under the higher part in the middle. The shed is now getting an aging and lettering. Behind the workshop shed, a power house is added.

Both sheds from the front.

Good for the one who has his own electrical engineer in the team! Our Stefan II has installed the LEDs with light-emitting diodes. Looks good!
